NOLA is what we folks down here use as it gets tedious constantly writing New Orleans, Louisiana. I love living in this city. Love that it is one of the few American cities with a true culture, real traditions, a flavor, a taste, a sound, unfortunately sometimes not the greatest smell. But no matter what, there is no place in the world like it and I’m so happy I chose to settle here.
Now what some people don’t know is that while my home is in NOLA, my first home was LACA, which as far as I know, no one uses to shorten Los Angeles, California. I love my home state with all the love I have for my adopted home and part of my heart will always be in the waves of the Pacific Ocean.
When people ask me where I’m from, my answer is always L.A. without thinking that I am actually in an LA. It took a few times of saying this and people responding how I don’t sound like I’m from Louisiana to get that I needed a few more letters with L.A. if I was referring to that place in California. So now I say LACA when people ask me where I’m from. Once I explain it, folks think I’m a bit clever.
If I could splice the CA ocean and the taste of the sea air with my NOLA and it’s life and joie de vive, then I think that place might just be my heaven. For now, I have to settle for Amtrak and Southwest Airlines bringing us together. At the end of the day, I am indeed an LA Girl and I always will be, but the L.A. Girl is more than happy to share.
I don’t have a sign off yet, so I’ll just say ta-ta for now!
